Y8 students at Ounsdale recently did some starter activities for Maths lessons using a foreign language – usually French but sometimes Spanish!
They worked in groups of about 4 to prepare their activity and then presented it to their class – and in some cases other classes.
Topics covered ranged from linear sequences, plotting graphs, stem and leaf diagrams and even quadratic sequences which is very advanced mathematics even if English. The students used some visualisers to show deliver their work to the rest of the class.

The students have enjoyed this project and staff were very impressed at how much French the students attempted to use. MFL teachers have also reported that students seem more confident in using the numbers in their lessons.
