MFL teachers at Ounsdale have been trying out new ways of teaching their subject. We hope that these innovative strategies will encourage and motivate the students.
Ideas include:8m2 - had to create a dialogue to be filmed detailing what they did in the past tense. Some chose to perform this as a puppet show, some did it as a simple role play, some produced pictures so that it was like an animation.
Y9 - For revision at the end of a unit this class invented their own character/ avatar (sugar paper or through presenting picture on board) and presented these to the class
Whilst it meant they were regurgitating language they had already covered as they were talking as if they were a different person it meant that they could be more creative and could be as silly/creative as they wanted.
Other ideas I have had but not yet put in to practice: write a page for a book in the style of ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ recounting a day in the past/ future aspirations pretending you are that character. This is a different focus but should enable similar creativity as the task above.
Y7 - Did some videos giving a guided tour of their bedrooms. This allowed them to be creative and also resulted in severa tidier bedrooms around Wombourne!!

- They gave the character a name, age, town and character traits – present tense.
- They described what he usually does – present
- They described what he did last weekend / recently
- They described future aspirations (with pictures if on board).
