We recently asked MFL students in year 7 which ideas they had seen in practice most regularly in our lessons since the start of the current school year. They had to pick 3 ideas each from the list below (see further info under Joint project work) and write the corresponding numbers on a small piece of paper. To help the students, we translated the 7 ideas into Swedish before showing these in a Keynote presentation. However, here they are in English:
The result of the survey that we have made in four classes of MFL students – of either French, German or Spanish – is as follows:
1. Activities such as quizzes and games used regularly to practise vocabulary (50)*
2. Use of ICT and other new technology in lessons (33)*
3. a) Variety of different activities/skills practised in each lesson (32)*
b) Working in groups, for example to do role plays (32)*
* The number between brackets represents the number of students that had observed a certain idea in practice, according to the count made after we had collected the pieces of paper with three numbers (from the list of ideas) per student.
