Maths project -
part 1
Our Maths teachers gave the students some problems to solve in English. They used English for the first time in a Maths lesson. Here are some examples:
Problems in English
Mathematics, 7th grade
1. If five cats can catch five mice in five minutes, how many cats can catch 100 mice in 100 minutes?
2. John and Paul were sitting in a park. John had 7 pies and Paul 5 pies. They were joined by a third man, who had no packed lunch with him, but he promised to pay for the lunch. They shared these pies so that everone got the same amount and ate them with a good appetite until nothing was left. The stranger gave 12 silver dollars for the payment. How did John and Paul share the money?
3. On the bank of a river there were four big men, who wanted to get to the other side of the river. Two little children were rowing on the river. Their boat was so small that it could carry only these two children or one big man on a time. How could these men cross the river with the help of the children?
4. You have a four-litre basket and a five-litre basket. How can you measure 2 litres by these baskets?
